Responsibility.org Adds Two New Members to Its Judicial Advisory Board

We're pleased to announce two new members to our Judicial Advisory Board. Judge Shannon A. Holmes from Detroit, Michigan and Judge Robert T. Russell, Jr. from Buffalo, New York have joined this illustrious group of judicial and criminal justice leadersThe Advisory Board is comprised of trailblazers who have been nationally recognized for their efforts to reduce recidivism by addressing underlying issuesincluding mental health and substance use, that often lead to crime.   

Judge Shannon Holmes is the Presiding Judge of the 36th District Specialty Courts, which includes Drug Treatment Court, Veterans Treatment Court, Mental Health Court, Community Court, Human Trafficking Docket, and Street Outreach Court Detroit. She is responsible for the administration of restorative justice for individuals who require specialized services due to addictions and behavioral health issues.  

Judge Robert Russell is an Associate Judge for Buffalo City Court and serves by appointment as an Erie County Court Judge. Judge Russell has been presiding over Treatment Courts since December of 1995. He has created Buffalo’s Drug Treatment Court, its Mental Health Treatment Court, and its Veterans Treatment Court, which was the first of its kind in the country.  

Through the leadership and insight of the Judicial Advisory Board, Responsibility.org identifies ways to improve and expand the reach of our programs, determine how to strengthen efforts to stop impaired driving, and develop educational resources for every facet of the criminal justice system. Through input and guidance from members of the Judicial Advisory Board, critical programs like Stop High Risk Impaired Driving (StopHRID) have been createdA few months ago, Judicial Advisory Board member, Judge John S. Kennedy added to our Blog with an article about the importance or pretrial interventiondetailed in Phase 2 of the StopHRID online resource
