Licensing

Licensing agencies, commonly referred to as the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), play an important role in the DUI system. These agencies are responsible for issuing, suspending/revoking, and re-instating driver licenses, maintaining driver records, and tracking DUI infractions. With respect to DUI sanctions, in many states, the DMV oversees the administration of the alcohol interlock program. Responsibility.org has supported the development of several interlock resources for licensing agencies to improve the implementation and delivery of these impaired driving programs.
