IKnowEverything ends on a great note!

We had a great year for IKnowEverything! We finished our last event at Wiregrass Ranch High School in Wesley Chapel, Florida. We organized the event with the help of the local Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) chapter. The Wiregrass Ranch High School SADD Advisor was excited to gather his students for the event. With summer around the corner, this is a great time to talk to students about teen driver safety so they are more prepared on the road!

The students were in the middle of their final exams week, but this did not stop them from putting their knowledge to the teen driving safety challenge! Everyone was thrilled that WTSP News 10 was covering the event. The audience was filled with 100 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. This event is important for all high school students, especially in Florida, because Florida residents are able to receive their licenses at an earlier age. It was great to see all of the students discussing teen driver safety in the audience. 81% of the Wiregrass Ranch High School students at the IKnowEverything event correctly identified what to do if an ambulance is headed towards them. The students loved the challenge and lined up for IKnowEverything sunglasses at the end!

The Wiregrass Ranch High School IKnowEverything event marks our twenty-first IKnowEverything event for 2014! We successfully collected data on what teens know about safe driving from every high school we have visited for IKnowEverything. Overall, we have data from nearly 2,000 students. We will be using our data for a national study, which will help better, more effectively educate students on teen driver safety. We hope to make teen driver education more impactful for students across the United States.

The IKnowEverything challenge itself has also helped educate students on the dangers of drunk driving and distracted driving. New drivers think they know everything, but our challenge shows students that they have a little homework to do if they want to make honor roll! We are glad to have reached students at twenty-one high schools with the challenge!

Thanks to Wiregrass Ranch High School’s SADD Advisor Greg Finkel, Wiregrass Ranch High School’s Principal Robyn White, and everyone who made this event possible!
