May is Global Youth Traffic Safety Month – Get Involved

Thanks to all of you for joining the conversation during Alcohol Awareness Month – but our work is not finished.  Since May is Global Youth Traffic Safety Month™, The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility, along with the International Association of Chiefs of Police Foundation, National Organizations for Youth Safety, and the National Sheriffs’ Association, is proud to introduce IKnowEverything! Developed to prepare teens to be safe when they get behind the wheel, IKnowEverything is an integrated effort that highlights the issues of drunk driving and distracted driving, and reiterates to parents that they have the most influence on their teen’s driving behaviors.

We all know teens are overly confident and think they’re invincible – particularly when they get into the car. The IKnowEverything program includes an engaging, fast-paced animated video featuring a teen’s voiceover that suggests that teens “Know Everything” like:

  • I know not to drink alcohol and drive, it’s dangerous, illegal and just plain stupid.
  • I know not to text and drive.
  • I know my parents can take away my keys anytime.
  • I know I need to pay attention 100% of the time while driving.

We also created a website for IKnowEverything where students and parents can watch the video, download information and a facilitator’s guide for teen driver safety practitioners. This program can be used as a supplement to your existing outreach to teens and their parents on driver safety issues, wherever you are engaging with them. Encourage teens and parents to watch the video together and regularly discuss driving safety. Checkout our infographic, too!  

Further, we taped PSAs with 17 State Attorneys General from across the country, and we are excited to start sending IKnowEverything into the states. The PSAs will launch on YouTube, Pandora, Facebook, and Twitter throughout the month.
