Marc Bromfeld Renewed for Second Term as Chairman of Responsibility.org

Robert Hall, CEO of Ole Smoky Distillery LLC to become Vice Chair

Arlington, Va.— Today, Responsibility.org announced Marc Bromfeld, director of corporate affairs, social responsibility and charitable giving at Edrington Americas, will serve as chairman of its board of directors for a second term, and J. Robert Hall, chief executive officer of Ole Smoky Distillery, will serve as vice chairman.

“During my first term as chairman, we worked closely with our partners to increase awareness about the dangers of impaired driving and stigmatize this preventative, dangerous behavior. Our programs also reduced underage drinking nationwide and encouraged those who are of legal age and drink alcohol to do so responsibly,” said Bromfeld. “Heading into my reappointment, I will ensure we maintain our collaborative spirit and build upon our best-in-class efforts, like the Ask, Listen, Learn: Kids and Alcohol Don’t Mix program, the National Alliance to Stop Impaired Driving, Wrong Side of the Road, and many others. We will continue using our influence to help make individuals and communities safer, which is incredibly important as we hopefully return to somewhat normal routines.”

Over the past decade, Bromfeld's leadership has been integral to outreach efforts on behalf of Responsibility.org. His extensive marketing and branding background has helped guide several of the organization’s high-profile awareness campaigns. Additionally, he has been deeply involved with several charitable organizations, including Clean Ocean Action, Covenant House, Creature Comfort Pet Therapy, Court Appointed Special Advocates, and InterFaith Food Pantry of the Oranges.

“We want to continue sending a clear message that responsibility begins with individual choices, but we also want to provide individuals with education and role model good behavior to prevent undesirable consequences from irresponsible drinking,” said Chris Swonger, president & CEO of the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) and Responsibility.org. “With in-depth knowledge of the spirits industry and issues surrounding alcohol in society, both Marc and Robert are well-positioned to guide the board of directors and ensure our organization will continue leading the fight to promote responsible alcohol consumption, eliminate underage drinking and end impaired driving once and for all.”

Hall, incoming vice chairman, is a leader with over 40 years of professional experience and a track record of delivering strong results for the organizations he serves. Since 2016, he has led Ole Smoky Distillery to become the largest craft distiller and one of the fastest growing spirits companies in the United States. Founded in 2010, Ole Smoky was the first federally licensed distillery in the history of East Tennessee and its distilleries are recognized as being the most visited in the world with well over 4 million visitors annually. Furthermore, Hall has guided the distillery towards greater philanthropy, leading its efforts to provide financial support for a variety of causes, including the preservation of Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains.

“As chief executive of the company, I know that my entire organization feels a direct sense of responsibility to the communities in which our customers and employees live, play and visit. It’s deeply personal. And for us, those communities do not exist only within Tennessee, but across the United States,” said Hall. “Our commitment to work together with industry leaders and advocates on these important issues was at the center of our decision to join the board of directors, and I am excited and eager to see the progress we will make on advancing alcohol responsibility in 2022.”

The chairman and vice chairman, along with the rest of the board of directors, will continue to receive guidance and direction from Responsibility.org’s independent National Advisory Board, which is comprised of members of law enforcement, medical professionals, a former Attorney General, and other experts in mission-related fields.
