Responsibility.org Distributes Underage Drinking Prevention Videos Featuring World Cup Champion Lauren Holiday and 21 State Attorneys General

ARLINGTON, Va. – Kicking off April's designation as "Alcohol Responsibility Month,” the Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility (Responsibility.org) teamed up with attorneys general from 22 states to release public service announcements throughout their respective states. The PSAs call upon parents to have conversations with their kids and teens about saying “no” to underage drinking and feature attorneys general and Lauren Holiday, member of the US Women’s World Cup soccer team.

“Research continues to show that parents are the leading influence on kids’ decisions to drink—or not to drink—alcohol,” said South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley, President of the National Association of Attorneys General. “That’s why it’s so important for parents to start having conversations with their kids at a young age about the dangers of underage drinking. It’s a great pleasure to be able to work with Lauren Holiday on these PSAs. She is a positive role model and a prime example to our kids of what they can achieve if they set goals and make positive choices.”

“I’m thrilled to join Responsibility.org this year as an Ask, Listen, Learn Superstar,” said Holiday. “Making smart, healthy decisions is a crucial step to reaching your goals, and one of the most important decisions is to say YES to a healthy lifestyle and NO to underage drinking.”

In the PSAs, the attorneys general encourage parents to begin talking early with their kids about alcohol. Research shows that conversations among parents and kids about underage drinking have increased 62 percent while underage drinking has decreased 19 percent. The attorneys general stress that underage drinking is unhealthy, dangerous and illegal. The PSAs will begin airing throughout each of the 22 states this month.

“For 25 years, Responsibility.org has led the fight against drunk driving and underage drinking, and we are very pleased to work with Lauren Holiday and so many of our country’s attorneys general this year,” said Ralph Blackman, president and CEO of Responsibility.org. “There is no better time than Alcohol Responsibility Month to talk to your kids about making smart choices. We hope these PSAs will help encourage more parents to open up the lines of communication with their kids around alcohol responsibility.”
