Arlington, Va. – Responsibility.org, a national not-for-profit which leads the fight to eliminate drunk driving and eliminate underage drinking and which is funded by America’s leading distillers, is proud to announce former Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Virginia director Chris Konschak joined the organization as senior director of traffic safety and government relations.

“In addition to his passion and commitment to traffic safety, Chris brings a unique set of skills and experiences to our organization which will allow us to deepen our impact from a legal, policy and programmatic perspective,” said Darrin Grondel, Vice President of Traffic Safety and Government Relations and former Washington Highway Safety Office director and former Chair of the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) Board of Directors.

With over 30 years of experience in the traffic safety profession both as a lawyer and anti-impaired driving advocate, Konschak has devoted his life and career to serving others and working to prevent drunk and drugged driving. Chris began his career as a congressional aide for Senator Alan Cranston (D-Cali.) before transitioning to the Virginia Federation of Communities for Drug Free Youth.

“Responsibility.org is thrilled to welcome Chris to our team,” said Chris Swonger, president and CEO of the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS) and Responsibility.org. “His experience and knowledge in our issues combined with his decades of experience, education and leadership ensure that our organization is poised for maximum success in eliminating impaired driving.”

Prior to joining Responsibility.org’s team, Konschak served as director of MADD Virginia. Under his leadership, the organization established, maintained, and expanded relationships with key Virginia legislators, law enforcement officials, criminal justice practitioners and mission-critical traffic safety partners and developed one of MADD’s most effective projects to date, the “Victim Stories,” which has reached more than 96 million people.

Chris earned a Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Speech Communications from the University of Richmond. He resides in Richmond, Va., with his family.
