Board of Directors builds upon 34 years of mission progress by voting to expand support previously restricted to include only distilled spirits companies.
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Responsibility.org welcomes BeatBox Beverages as a Responsibility Champion. This addition follows the decision of the not-for-profit to allow and encourage beer and wine producers, distributors, hospitality partners, retailers, and other similar companies in the alcohol responsibility space to join the board of directors or participate in ways that were once restricted to include distilled spirits companies only.
Certified B Corp, BeatBox, maker of the top-selling wine-based ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages, is the first new partner to join Responsibility.org under this expanded structure. “We’re proud to be the first wine-based RTD beverage company to join Responsibility.org and to champion its mission alongside others in our industry who take responsible consumption seriously,” said Aimy Steadman, Co-Founder and COO at BeatBox. “We’ve always said ‘we party better together’ and that means celebrating responsibly and supporting positive change across our industry.”
Since 1991, Responsibility.org has been a leading voice in eliminating underage drinking, eliminating drunk driving and working with others to eliminate all forms of impaired driving, and promoting responsible alcohol consumption to adults of legal drinking age. The organization’s board members, Responsibility Champions, Associates, and Craft Supporters share these missions, reaching millions each year. The invitation is open for supporters of these missions to further increase impact and save more lives.
“This expansion allows us to make even greater progress—keeping kids alcohol-free, making roads safer, and promoting responsibility,” said Leslie Kimball, Executive Director of Responsibility.org. “Working together, we can do so much more.”
Responsibility.org research, advocacy, thought leadership, and communication have been the pinnacle of its success. The ethos, “we all have a seat at the table of responsibility,” is at the heart of the decision in convening even more companies and entities who share our dedication to alcohol responsibility. According to Kimball, “Responsibility starts here. Our supporters may be competitors in the marketplace, but when we come together at Responsibility.org, we are all working towards the same goals, and we are all focused on progressing our three missions.”
Robert Hall, CEO of Ole Smoky Distillery and Chair of the Responsibility.org Board of Directors, echoed this sentiment: “We’re uniting the industry to ensure Americans make responsible alcohol choices. I welcome BeatBox and look forward to more partners joining our mission.”
The programs, campaigns, and initiatives of Responsibility.org, including the award-winning Ask, Listen, Learn underage drinking prevention program and Responsibility Works, an education platform for alcohol responsibility for employers and their teams, will continue to be guided by the organization’s National Advisory Board, an independent group of professionals with expertise in prevention, government relations, communications, and more.
All new partners will be required to uphold the values and missions of Responsibility.org in order to maintain the organization’s long-standing reputation and integrity.
