The addition of New Belgium marks the first beer producer to join Responsibility.org since the unveiling of the organization’s new structure in late 2025.
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, Responsibility.org welcomes New Belgium Brewing as a Responsibility Champion. This newest addition follows the decision late last year of the not-for-profit to expand its structure to include beer and wine producers, hospitality businesses, and other like-minded organizations in addition to distilled spirits companies. New Belgium Brewing is the first craft brewer to join the organization under this umbrella, further affirming their commitment to alcohol responsibility and the importance of continuing the progress to keep teens alcohol-free and drunk drivers off the roads. New Belgium will adhere to the organization’s code of conduct.
“Responsibility starts with each of us, and I am delighted to welcome New Belgium as a Responsibility Champion,” said Leslie Kimball, Executive Director of Responsibility.org. “Their dedication to social responsibility and connection matches our values as an organization and will allow us to make more progress on our missions, programs, and initiatives to educate the general public about what responsibility entails.”
New Belgium Brewing, certified B Corp™ and maker of the beer brands like Voodoo Ranger and Fat Tire Ale, follows a “Human Powered Business” with a focus on accountability, respect, and responsibility. They hold the belief that investments in both the business and the people behind it drive success, as showcased in their “Poured for All” campaign of inclusivity and their support of Responsibility.org.
Sterling Riethman, Vice President of Communications and Public Policy at New Belgium recognizes the work and progress of Responsibility.org and sees the mutual value of membership and collaboration within the beverage alcohol industry. “We are so proud to be the first beer company to join Responsibility.org under their new structure,” said Riethman. “We don’t just talk the talk—we walk the walk, so working with the team and focusing on the missions of Responsibility.org fit with our commitment to the wellbeing of our coworkers and community. We are proud to join other highly regarded and forward-thinking companies to make progress together.”
“As we empower adults to make informed, responsible alcohol choices, we are stronger and more impactful when we work together,” said Joe Durso, Chair of the Board of Directors of Responsibility.org and Vice President, National & Public Affairs, Pernod Ricard. “We should all venture to continue the work and progress that we have made over the years, and I am excited that New Belgium is the newest Responsibility Champion committed to Responsibility.org.”
Since 1991, Responsibility.org has been a leading advocate in eliminating underage drinking, eliminating drunk driving and working with others to eliminate all forms of impaired driving, and promoting responsible alcohol consumption to those of legal drinking age. Its programs, campaigns, and initiatives, including the award-winning Ask, Listen, Learn underage drinking prevention program and employee-focused Responsibility Works educational platform, reach millions of Americans each year.
All companies sitting on the board of directors, as well as the Responsibility Champions, Responsibility Associates, and Craft Supporters, choose to support the missions and values of the organization, and the invitation remains open for all supporters of these missions to come together to create a larger impact and save more lives.
