Police Chief urges law enforcement to use IKnowEverything

I’ve been in law enforcement for 37 years. One of the worst days in an officer’s life is the day you have to deliver the message that a young person died in a car crash. No one should ever have to experience that day. The reality is that for teen drivers, mile for mile, they are involved in three times as many fatal crashes as all other drivers. We need to do everything we can to stop this tragic loss of life. Teen drivers think that they know everything. However, data shows that distracted driving, not wearing seat belts, speed, inexperience and nighttime driving all contribute to teenage traffic deaths.

The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility’s IKnowEverything program is new and innovative, and helps law enforcement connect with the community, teen drivers and their parents with real-life scenarios. The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Foundation encourages police chiefs and other law enforcement professionals to share this program in their communities. Because the reality is, teens don’t know everything.
