Service Members and Veterans

Empowering service members and veterans who choose to drink to make a lifetime of responsible alcohol choices.

Whether that’s by helping you while serving in our military during stressful and uncertain times or transitioning to life after service, we’ve got the tips and tools to help you assess your relationship with alcohol. We’ll help you identify if your alcohol consumption may be an issue, determine if you may have an underlying mental health issue that makes you more susceptible to a problem with alcohol and substance abuse, and assist you with supportive resources as you navigate your way through challenging times.

We all have a responsibility to help make sure individuals who have served our country can transition back into a productive, healthy life as a civilian. Providing support and resources can make all the difference.

We've Got Your Back

Responsibility.org Brings Service Members and Veterans the Computerized Assessment and Referral System (CARS)

It’s never too late to focus on your well-being. If your alcohol consumption becomes excessive and more persistent over time, it is important to consider how it may be impacting your life. Identifying an alcohol problem or an associated underlying mental health illness and taking action to reach out for support is a sign of strength and courage.

Created by the Cambridge Health Alliance at Harvard Medical School, this tool is confidential and will help you identify problematic substance use and mental health conditions and connect you to treatment resources.

The Virtual Bar can help you understand how various factors affect your individual blood alcohol content.

Our blood alcohol content (BAC) calculator, AKA the "Virtual Bar", utilizes the latest science to help you get a better understanding of how different factors affect your BAC based on your gender, weight, the food you eat, what and how you drink throughout the night, and other important variables. It also gives you a sense of how long it would take for your BAC to return to 0.00 – which may be surprising. Try it here or download our app so you can take it with you!

Responsibility #StartsWithMe

Those who have served in the military understand the term “Battle Buddy.” A Battle Buddy is expected to assist his or her teammate both in and out of combat, to keep an eye on the other and to serve as a solid shoulder to lean on every now and again. Battle Buddies make sure their brothers and sisters are doing the right thing and are partners in their success and failures. Responsibility.org is leading the way to inspire people all across our nation to be responsible drinkers if they choose to drink and Battle Buddies who can be a positive example for others.
